Establishment of the First Instant Coffee Processing Plant in Papua New Guinea for coffee extract preparation line with a capacity of 500 kg/h based on a 12 wide-body percolator plant for high yield and premium coffee extract. This Instant Coffee Processing Plant will be the first brand new Plant of its type in the Region for nearly 35 years and first in Papua New Guinea. Vietnam is the only country that has had new Instant Coffee Plants recently.
Coffee beans will be 100% Arabica coffee beans – this is premium beans on the
world market and sold at premium price
1. PNG will be the only country in the Region once this plant is set-up and manufacturing that will be making instant coffee powder / granulated using Arabica beans only. Others use Robusta or a mixture of beans (blended coffee)
2. The plant is being purchased from an SPX Flow Inc (an American Company) and Devex (DEVEX is a German company and is part of the KAHL Group), but the technology base is from Germany and Denmark (company is in the Fortune 500 and listed on NASDAQ).
3. The coffee will be either fine blend powder or granulated, freeze dried.
4. The plant will have capacity to produce 500kg / hour instant coffee.
5. Yearly it will produce 4,008 tonnes of instant coffee powder, monthly it will produce
334,000 kg.
6. It will consume 1,250 kg of green beans in an hour to produce 500kg of instant coffee powder per hour.

In a day it will consume 30,000 kg of green beans or 500 x 60kg green bean bags
In a year it will consume 10,020 tonnes of green beans. It will consume approximately 26% of current PNG Green Bean export. The Plant will directly employ 150 staff, operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week and
334 days a year.
